Then maybe you need to make sure virtualization enabled in your BIOS, or tweek the settings of your VM some more. I've had no problems with running some on far less RAM.

Agreed... I've damn near 'choked' a VM and it still ran fine (on far less speedy hardware).

Will that make me lose any performance when just running one OS?

Maybe this could be it? I'm running AVG anti-virus and I think it scans a file every time it is updated so maybe it keeps scanning the virtual hard disk thus slowing down Ubuntu?

Well there is only one way to find out - turn AVG off and see if you get any speed improvements...

For some reason I can not find the option for CPU virtualization in my BIOS. I flashed the BIOS with the latest version but no luck there. My CPU supports it and I swear I've seen the option before. Here is my motherboard if anyone can help: http://www.newegg.co...N82E16813130620

Why do you need that option again?

Someone said I might need to turn it on for Virtual Box to be able to use a virtual CPU.

Linux Mint 14. It's easy like Ubuntu, but it offers a nice change of scenery. And if you're ever without a flash drive or CD again, don't forget about Wubi, which lets you dual-boot with a simple download.
