polishedgames.com (revamped)

Posted 29 March 2013 - 11:11 PM

I decided to revamp my website, polishedgames.com, in preparation for my upcoming game projects over the spring/summer.

I designed it completely by myself (am I not an artist), and I tried to make a theme throughout the website.

I would appreciate a rate 1-10(lowest-highest), followed by helpful advice.

Its 3 screen captures. What do you want people to review?

No offense but - What design? It doesn't feel like there is more than an hour in this.
  • A title
  • A menu strip
  • A screenshot

Its pretty much any generic site-builder template.

The theme, layout, general appeal, functionality, etc...

The design is the cartoonish themed title, clouds, background. Incorporating no more than 3 specific colors to be in keeping with the theme. Perhaps I should have elaborated further, I don't wish for you to judge my content but rather my concept alone.

Well, it is generic since I made it myself and I'm not a company. I'm sure this was meant as an insult, however, I made this in a couple hours, so I'm flattered you would consider this to be on the standard of a company's site-builder.

Thanks for the feedback.

Issues I see:
- the logo doesn't take me back to home
- no indicator (in the menu) which page I am on
- the home images should be spaced better
- you are missing a space in the logo
- pretty bland

- Unfortunately, I'm having trouble making the logo hyperlink to home since its in a CSS template and not html.
- I will work on that.
- I will work on that.
- I will work on that.
- I made the image designs quite quickly, so I'm sure I can find time to add more detail.

Thanks for the feedback!

Then perhaps that may point you towards not using the 'background image' for your header logo. Good ol' img tag would work fine.

Just wrap it in an <a> tag. As long as there's a width and height your link will show up on the div with the background image.
