SYSTEM message QUEUE

Posted 01 April 2013 - 04:44 AM

i have read that when an event is generated like from keyboard for example that message is kept in system message queue before os takes 1 by 1 message and transmits it to the message queue to particular application for which that message was intended.

so i want to know does there exist any way or any function that i can use to access system message queue and see all the listed message generated in the system meant for different applications????

pls help me out on this ..i m completely lost here

Is This A Good Question/Topic? 0

What OS? Windows? Linux?

If Windows, you can do more research on global windows hooks.

I did some research on hooks as you mentioned and i read the following line...

"If the application installs a hook procedure for a thread of a different application, the procedure must be in a DLL."

so this is the basic functionality i am looking for i.e single hook that tracks input for different apps running in user space in the system.

so pls guide me.
thanks man

Perhaps if you tell us what you are trying to do we might be able to steer you to a route that doesn't require as much in depth knowledge, or level of expertise.

Ha Ha.. you are smelling right "JackOfAllTrades" but this is not for misuse only for educational purposes.

so i am developing a project which has a feature of intellisense.
so i am trying to catch hold of keyboard events which would be processes by some intellisense based process
and returns back the suggestion at targeted windows.. and i am not intending to use get message for each wind proc i create, maybe hooks as mentioned by "skydiver".

So help me on this guys any good links, reading etc..since i am not a fan of msdn so that would be my last option.

thanks. :-)
