How to get parameters?

Posted 02 April 2013 - 11:33 AM

I have done basic text editor. It saves file, loads it, you can edit it and etc. So everything works fine, but now I added text bold/italic/underline also font size and etc. But when I save file for example with 16pt size and bold. And then I open it again still be the same as before, with default size and unbold. So, how should I get these parameters from already saved file before loading? And how to get these not only from files wich were created with my editor but also from files wich were created with notepad and etc.

You need to implement a file format.

.txt is what Notepad uses but it doesn't have any formatting information, so no font faces, sizes, styles or colours.

.doc, .rtf, .odf, etc are common formats ofr text and formatting. You can probably search for third party libraries to help you read and write them.
