Programming vs research experience

Posted 04 April 2013 - 07:50 PM

What do you think is more valuable for graduate school admission - programming or research (in CS) internship?

What about for getting a job?

Graduate school is about research. Work experience is more valuable for a job.

Any story is a good story if you can sell it. If you're good at what you do, you'll be fine, so do the one that grabs you the most. That'll be the most fun, hopefully.

I agree with jon.kiparsky. You can really focus on one or the other, but I found if you can get a good amount of both and sell it, the school will fall head over heals for you.
