Get Image off website into WPF

Posted 11 April 2013 - 05:51 AM

Okay, so I'm just practicing with WPF (Trying to learn new things and all that).

I want to make an application that could get an image off a specific site, and then display that image.
I'm also certain that this is possible with WPF, but still, have no idea how.
I assume you would need to be able to get the div class names, or something.. Well as I'm sure you can tell, I have absolutely no idea how to go around this.

Is there somewhere somebody could direct me to learn this stuff?

So in short, using WPF/C# to get images off specific websites (The images change, so I can't use exact addresses).

Thanks!

Because there are SO DARNED MANY articles on this topic throughout the web I would pretty much call this question a "Gimme teh codez". Doing any kind of search at all for "C# download image from website" gets you numerous how-to articles and snippets. You can't swing a dead cyber-cat without hitting an article on how to download an image programmatically.

Please make at lease a half-hearted effort to google and do a little trial and error before asking others to do your research and experimentation for you.

We're here to help you with your efforts - not do it all for you.

How to do a good search to get targeted results.

Hey man, I tried a bunch of things off the internet before I decided to come here. But nothing was working for me.

But as far as I am aware, my work proxy is blocking my app from getting images. So I'm going to try it at home later. I'm not just going to come crying to D.I.C when I can't figure something out first try :3

Please keep in mind we aren't watching over your shoulder.
All we know is what you tell us. And your post told us nothing of actual attempts. It boiled down to "tell me how to do this". If you had tried, then it really should have been more like

Quote

I've tried the 5 ways shown in the code below but nothing is working. Does anyone see what I'm doing wrong?
// Try #1 - May 1, 0900hrs
//    code
//    code
//    code
// Try #2 - May 2, 1700hrs   Okay, plan B.  What if I do it *this* way
//    code
//    code
//    code
// Try #14 - May 3, 0500hrs after 5 cans of RedBull. Maybe I should get some sleep. I can't think of anything else but this last idea
    code
    code
    code

Hopefully you can see the difference in the two approaches to posting a question that informs everyone else of your efforts.

Best of luck on your project.

Do you see the images in your browser? If you go the site in Safari or IE do you see the images? If so they aren't blocked. If they are, then stop surfing porn at work. <laugh>

So I sent the application home (The one I create before coming here), and it work perfectly. I guess it is my works proxy.

I've currently got it where the address is hard coded in.

I guess the next step would be to bind it to something that automatically updates.
To combing the internet!!
