Here is the situation:
>I have a server with a website. The website works (IIS6).
>The website uses an access database.
>If the database is on the server with the website, it works.
>The database MUST be kept on another server.
>The ONLY viable way for my website's server to connect to the database's server is via VPN.
>I develop while connected to the server that holds the database, so I know the path (\\databaseserver\database\db.accdb) works. It's not the path.
>The VPN works, as I can see, edit, create and delete files within the database folder on the database server from the website server. If I enter \\databaseserver\database\db.accdb into Windows Explorer, it comes up.
>I get this error: The Microsoft Access database engine cannot open or write to the file '\\databaseserver\database\db.accdb'. It is already opened exclusively by another user, or you need permission to view and write its data.
>It is definitely not exclusively opened by another user.
We have tried giving EVERYONE full access to the folder the database is in. That didn't resolve the issue.
I'm hoping I'm missing something very simple. I have never tried to connect to a database via VPN before, but for security reasons, it's the only way I can do it. Research seems to indicate it shouldn't be a problem...
Anywho, would muchly appreciate whatever help you can give.
