Computer Scientist in the making

Posted 18 April 2013 - 11:30 AM

Hello Dream.in.code!

My name is Chris. I'm a young and handsome CS student.
I'm mainly a web programmer (php) so far with great interest in databases,
but I had to learn a lot of Java for the study (which I hate - mainly because of that little orange tray icon
and because the applets are so annoying ;) ), so I'm trying to learn some C# with .NET as well.
I'm joining in the hope that I can help out fellow coders but also learn from you.

Looking forward to meeting you all!

Welcome!

My, my, my. A _handsome_ CS student? What a great addition to all the ugly mugs running around here. Hahaha!

Obligatory:
Spoiler

So what have you been doing project wise? Anything cool or neat? How about what you may be working towards?

Thanks modi!

Sadly no, I don't think I've done any cool stuff. I'm trying to come up with cool projects that I can use for a portfolio.
Currently working on an RSS Reader Website (like we don't have enough of those ;) ) built with the Symfony2 Framework.
Something neat for a portfolio is pretty much all I'm working towards right now - let me know if you have any ideas!
The idea with the RSS Reader was that I could start with the website and later expand with an android app which loads from the web server.
Nothing fancy - just to make an entire system working together nicely.

And you? - doing any interesting projects?

Ah cool.

Projects? I have projects coming out of the wazoo.. and those are not even *WORK* projects. Fiddling with a game and necessary art for that, tinkering with some Lilypad work, collapsing the various communication paths for work's app into a one shot interface, etc.

Woah, impressive. I tend to focus at a thing at a time otherwise I find myself not doing any progress.
I'm looking forward to playing your game - what type of game is it?
