I hear this a lot from people, but the country music today isn't the country music your parents or grandparents listened too. Sure there's a twang and the my truck won't start style lyrics but quite a bit of it is pretty rocking and upbeat. It's more Pop music then

Try this out or this
or this semi metal country song

TL;DR don't dismiss it completely, but inject some into your playlist occasionally :)

I prefer Classic rock, but I also listen to electronic, dubstep and brostep. I also like remixes. Nothing puts a smile on my face faster than hearing Jontron say something funny in the middle of a nice little bass drop.

I like Indie stuff, and I ambient sometimes. I listen to a bit of metal... (or is it metalcore? I don't know.)

I like deadmau5 and Daft Punk, AC/C and CCR. I like Thousand Foot Krutch, and the Vibrant Sound. I like all kinds of music, but I cannot stand Rap, or Country, or Pop of any kind. However, like with anything, there are exceptions.

My tastes are all over the place. I'll switch from classical (Brahms, Bach, Liszt, Shostakovich, etc. ) to a little rock ( Rush, Sparks ) to new wave ( Ultravox, OMD, Classix Nouvaeux, Depeche Mode ) and EBM/Industrial ( And One, VNV Nation, :wumpscut:, etc. ). It's all over the place really. Depends on my mood at the time what I will listen to.

Brantley Gilbert and Jason Aldean are kind of the "new country" artists. There are tunes from both that I keep on my playlist. I've been listening to more Luke Bryan and Craig Morgan of late (yeah, I'm perpetually late to the party).

The folks that don't care for country typically do so for two reasons: ignorance (they think it's more like Conway Twitty) and they don't do things where that kind of music contributes to the scene. People tend to view music as an accompaniment to some kind of activity they or their friends are doing. I mean, I used to listen to Metallica, AC/DC, Venom and whatnot when I was a kid...but that's because when I was a kid I was doing kid things. If I'm out on a boat on the lake, I'm out to catch some rays, go swimming, have some beers and generally stretch out and relax. Furious Voivod headbanging doesn't really mix with that scene.

I play bass guitar in a band actually, I like our music best!

Our sound is kind of a heavy metal punk. Since we're a 3-piece I'm emphasized as the only real contrast to the guitar.

Our guitarist's influences are primarily Metallica and their soundalikes (sorry, I'm not a fan of that kinda metal). He could speak better on that.

My influences are Rancid, Green Day, the Sex Pistols, the Ramones, Goldfinger, that whole genre, along with Queen, REM, the Smiths, Rush, the Talking Heads. There's also some more obscure stuff I like to try and draw on - the Cat Empire, Hey Ocean, Ruth Ruth, Possum Dixon.

We're currently working on a rendition of Metallica's Fade to Black, and I'm loving playing with the bassline - making it a bit jumpier, adding some licks here and there, it's fun as hell. Argh I can't wait to play tonight lol

Yeah, mood really change which kind of music i want to listen too. Never listened to trance or emocore, ill give it a try later. Have you ever listened to radiohead?

I was front row about a year and a half ago to a Radiohead concert :)/>

Dude, you're just so lucky. They only did one or two concerts in Brazil, and it was in 2009, i was too young to go...

Talking Heads is REALLY good! Any favorite songs? Mine are This Must Be The Place and Road To Nowhere.

I listen to mostly Progressive Metal i.e. Dream Theater, Redemption, Andromeda and the like. I also like relaxing to some Jazz music every now and then.
