Pinging a website and getting a response.

Posted 01 May 2013 - 04:43 PM

I am not too experienced with coding, but I have the task of creating a program using Strawberry Perl that pings a website and gets a response. That's only the first step, of course later on the information will be parsed etc. However I am struggling with getting the program to actually ping and get a response from the site.

I have more experience with languages like Java or Javascript, but I have never really coded in Perl before and could really use a hand.

~Any and all suggestions/helpful responses are appreciated.

Have you tried looking into 'ping' from the perl docs?
