This is just my opinion, but your survey seems to be fixated on the communications aspect of GSD. I feel that the problem space should also include:
- the expense (and/or savings) involved
- impacts on morale (particularly the guy or gal who has to be up at midnight or early morning to have a live twice weekly call with the person on the other side of the world -- I know a lady who quit her very nice paying secure job because she couldn't take it)
- quality of work produced
- service level agreements and enforcement
- copyright issues
- legality of using certain forms of encryption across international lines
- maintenance of servers for prod/qa/dev environments
- permissions to corporate resources (one way or two way trust? restricted or unrestricted?)
- ongoing maintenance of code after initial development
- coding standards
- onboarding and offboarding

An amusing and interesting take on the problems arising from cultural differences comes from an old MASH episode. Trapper John has the Korean peddler make him a pinstripe suit. He clearly knows his stuff: takes the measurements, shows the material, etc. When Trapper shows off the suit, it fits perfectly, but the pinstripes are horizontal!

here is a photo. Don't know how to put images in my posts; maybe someone can show me.

You should put a copy of the pin stripe suit on the cover of your thesis! :)

That would be amusing and apropos. :) I use the example in my lectures about requirements gathering.
