I want to try it out but haven't had the dollars to throw at it. I figure I'll wait until it drops again, no big rush. :P

In the meantime, I just picked up BF3 for $5!

My second year of college while working 5 jobs I just fell out of gaming (my free time was VERY important in those days). I've had Skyrim since Christmas and haven't even unwrapped it.

I played it a LOT about 3 months after it came out. Then I started this thing called college and work, where playing games becomes harder to come by than sleep does. Almost the same as me and Fallout 3, Borderlands 2, and AC3. I'll get to those at some point. Maybe.

It's amusing this thread is still rolling.

A quick inventory of games I have never played (and will most likely never play):
  • world of warcraft
  • league of legends
  • runescape
  • guild wars
  • call of duty (any of them)
  • modern warfare (any of them)
  • any of the battlefield
  • halo 2
  • halo 3
  • any of the Assassin Creed games.
  • any of the pokemon games
  • mass effect

I feel that you're missing out on quite a few gems on your list there, modi. At the very least, the Mass Effect trilogy is incredible (minus a subpar ending).

i left assassins creed 2 and gears of war 3 sit on my shelf for well over a year before i killed them both over the span of a month, so i totally get that. mass effect is on my to-get-to list next, i think.

I wish they'd re-make ME1 with ME2/3's game engine. ME1 had the absolute best story and missions of the whole series, but the gameplay itself is IMO the weakest. Regardless, totally worth playing through. I've got about 40 hours in the first game, and about 70 in each of the second two.

I tried it once, and didn't like it. Haven't touched it since.

While I found the main missions to be awesome and agree with your point about the engine, the side missions and "world exploring" were subpar AT BEST in Mass Effect 1. The worlds looked like an intern built them with a map editor, and every side mission was a copy paste of the same base with a different npc faction stuck inside.

I'm not sure they ever got exploration right. It wasn't great in the first, but it was practically nonexistent in the second two. Regardless, I'd still say the whole series was totally worth playing.

Lunar exploration was god awful. You'd mako over to the alien artifact on the other ass end of the world to find out you don't have enough electronics skill. Years later you find out that none of that collection crap in ME1 meant anything anyway.

Some people have lives, hence some people haven't played Skyrim. :)

That's true. And I haven't either.
