Posted 07 May 2013 - 02:22 AM

hello all,

i know i may be a little off topic here,
i am doing M.A and working right now on a work about open code normes (like Copy writing/Private collection)
and i was wondering what you guys think, what are the best normes/Rules that dominate the Open source community.

thanks in advance,
have a great week,

Well that is the thing about the open source opportunity there really is no standard rules. Each project sets up their own rules from how they do their naming convention, how to the branch and merge changes, who has access to what parts of the code etc. There might be some best practices, but those too also depend on the type of project. Typically you want to refactor code, want to create an environment of contribution and debate features to determine if they should make it into the code base etc.

I am not sure you can really create a solid group of rules for open source. At least that is my opinion. :)
