Game Development Help

Posted 07 May 2013 - 06:46 PM

Hello I am looking to develop a physics based game with the UDK engine as a summer project and I am having some trouble on where to start. I have some knowledge in programming (Visual Basic), graphic art (Corel Draw) and 3D Modeling (Blender).
Dose anyone have some advice or useful resources i could use?

Hello, the UDK is very well documented and you can find heaps of video tutorials on youtube, their website and other websites.
Here are some links that I got from google, the video tutorials from the epic games website are really good and I was using them when I was learning the engine, but I didn't get very far into them only as far as basic level design etc.. before I got too busy with study, but I found them to be very easy to follow. The best thing about the videos are that you can follow them while you have the UDK open, so simple. I'm sure they even have advanced tutorials on physics as well. I've been thinking about learning more about UDK but I don't have enough internet these days to download it, let alone the video tutorials... lol :(

I've used the UDK a fair bit in the last year or so and I can definitely say that it is a fun yet professional piece of software. The only downside is that you can't customize the engine, without purchasing a license or so to speak.

UDK Documentation Main PageGetting Started Programming on the Unreal Development Kit
Unreal Engine 3 Video Tutorials
How to Learn UDK (the Unreal Development Kit)

These links will definitely get you started with the UDK. I suggest that you bulk down and put all your effort into learning before you try create a game.

Hope it helps :)
