Runtime Error '429': ActiveX component can't create object

Posted 09 May 2013 - 04:02 AM

Hi,

I am using below code in vb6 application but this is throwing an "Runtime Error '429': ActiveX component can't create object" error.

CreateObject("OracleInProcServer.XoraSession")

is that due to any dll or reference error ?

please share your solution

Thanks in advance

Have you added a reference (Project, References) to the Oracle InProc Server Type Library?

Oracle docs

Is the server up-and-running (if required)?

I don't know, sorry.

If it were me I would consider un-installing and re-installing software, and possibly look into using regsvr32 to register dlls, but maybe someone else will contribute.

Mind you, as you are using obsolete VB6 software, it might take a bit of research

[Edited: Perhaps I shouldn't use the term obsolete :). Deprecated, unsupported.]

Hi,

My System doesn't have "OracleInProcServer.XOrasession" in the registry.

is that the reason for this issue ?

In the registry(?). You do have some Oracle software on your system?

I found the following information about your error which may be relevant. However, as you are working with VB6 you'll have to double-check all the version numbers.

Quote

Make sure these DLLS are registered on your system.

- regsvr32.exe oo4ocodewiz.dll
- regsvr32.exe odbtreeview.ocx
- regsvr32.exe oo4oaddin.dll
- regsvr32.exe oip9.dll

these files would have been installed in ORACLE_HOME\bin dir.

You will need a sufficiently high version of mfc42.dll(v. 6.00.x) to register oip9.dll

If another application over-wrote this DLL then this may be the reason CreateObject is failing. All this assumes Oracle Release 9.0.1.x.x

However, as you seem unsure, I take no responsibility for.. anything :)

Alternative source code to what? Your current source?

You said in an earlier post that your code runs on one machine and not another.

You will need to have what ever oracle package is installed on the working machine, whether this be an oracle client or drivers.

If you're running the VB6 IDE on both machines, then check out this link for more details on using it.

Also more details here about what you need installed to use it.
