lock access to database

Posted 09 May 2013 - 12:49 PM

Hi all i am not currently programming what i am about to ask, it is just something that came into my head after a java class.

So say i have multiple users connecting to a Access DB across a network. As far as i am aware it is fine to have several readers (e.g. people reading data from the DB) access the db, however i believe you should only ever i have one writer at a time access the DB to write data or data could get corrupted. So my question is, how do you lock the DB so that every application/ user across the network who wants to write has to wait until the current writer has finished writing. If anyone knows where i could read up on this it would be great.

Is This A Good Question/Topic? 0
