So I'm thinking of changing the design for dream.in.code
new colors, new layout, totally new... what's everyone think?

I'm also going to get rid of the scripts section and add a articles section and a gallery... I need a new design to make updating the site easier :)

Give me feedback... colors, design ideas... all that... it will be months before it is done, but I gotta start somwhere :)

I like this design, but I'm also looking forward to seeing what you come up with, I like the color scheme too, but maybe add a little more of the red/orange you use in the top banner, the gray gets kind of boring

if you are looking for people to write articles, I'd be interested in that too

Do what you feel will look best.  Do some tests, maybe have users comment on it, make it an open source thing.  Personally I like the site.  In the meantime I'm completely redoing mine.

Alrighty, first thing... colors... give me suggestions... I want something brighter.. grays still work but I want the light light grey and use the darks as accents...

But any color scheme works... this is YOUR site, give me some input... it's gonna be a total redesign, and every bit of your input will be used, I'll post what I have in PSD and you can tweak and tweak, the members will be the designers! I'm just the middle man puttin it all together :)

like the orange, let me experiment, do we have to keep the grays, i like them but in this format, if you want to redo the site, i suggest redoing everything :)

yea man thats great, but dont change the whole site design, just add the color to the basic site we have here, not the entire color scheme because i like the current one but the orange highlights would be nice

Yeah, I'm very happy with the current layout, except that I think all the forums should be listed on the main page, not just these few. We've diverted all the traffic into the caffine lounge mainly, and only dedicated forum surfers even find the other sections it seems like nowadays. Play with the colors, but keep images to a minimum.

The current layout is not working well for the expansion of the site, the layout is starting to break and I have no room to add the new sections and it takes over a week just to change one link on every page in the site... I need to do something different... it will be a couple months... or so... before we get a new design actually active on the site, but for now I'm just playing with ideas... this layout is getting kinda dull and no matter what I have to re do every page in the site to work with SSI... so I thought, why not make a new layout that will actually work well with the new templates... You can see I've added a TON of links on the new layout... those are the new sections... the left side will have dropdown menus of ALL the forums :) making it very easy to get form here to there :)

Yeah, no problem. I was going to cover overclocking, in a big ole tutorial sometime this week anyway, so we'll see if I can keep it small enough (you know how I ramble...) for a newsletter sized portion. I had actually started on it tonight, and then I realised that I only know how to overclock a few Celerons, specificly the C300A and the C300, and I didn't think that I should continue without having more experience.

I don't want to be the blind leading the blind, should people decide to try it with other models. It SHOULD work similarly, despite a few pin modifications (one in particular) but I'm still a novice really. I'll see what I can cook up in my boredom tonight. I'm looking for some more info online right now as a matter of fact.

Design #2  Just a quick glimpse at the ideas... there would be dropdown menus on all the main links (like Java sub menus) and the forums and such would be in an <iframe> as well as the resources and such, main page will be divided in to nice sections using the tables you see in the design... more later... comments please?!?!?
