Text checking in separate window.

Posted 12 May 2013 - 07:02 AM

Hey Guys

Im going to start writing a program in C++ for Linux-Debian.
This program needs to check inside Google Talk IMs chat window and then try and grab the
text that has been replied and also send some info back all on its own.

Soo string manipulation is fairly easy part BUT I have no idea how I will be able to have 1 program reach into another
programs text box and retrieve the info inside and then set the focus on the Input box and insert some text? I have never done it before.

Now my first thoughts where to make a co-ordinate system and just do automated mouse clicks on those co-ordinates. That in itself would probably be a huge learning curve for me :s !

Any ideas will be more then welcome.

Thanks guys

Now that I think about it.

It would probably just be easier to write my own im and just use XMPP.
Does any one know of a tutorial on implementing XMPP?

It's an open standard that is pretty simple. You should be able to write your own implementation. Are you truly looking for a tutorial on how the protocol works, or are you simply looking for existing code to steal?
