ToolStrip Visual Style displaying differently in forms

Posted 22 May 2013 - 04:13 AM

Hi,

I'm maintaining a C#.Net app which has multiple forms with toolstrips at the top.
In a form which I did not create myself it is displayed flat with no gradient but the forms which I have created display correctly.

Attached Image
As you can see in this example the toolstrip does not fill the top of the form fully as it has rounded edges and also lacks the slight gradient.

Attached Image
This example is from one of the forms I've created which has the gradient and fills the form.

The differences are apparent in the Visual Studio as well as at runtime.
There does not appear to be any differences in the properties.

Does anyone have any ideas as to why these would display differently?

Is This A Good Question/Topic? 0

Hi Adam,

Thanks for replying.
Both of these toolstrips are being displayed in the same instance of the app but in different forms.
The OS is Win7 x64 but I don't believe this to be the problem as I had the same behaviour on XP.

I've realised that the rounded edges being visible is because the background that the toolstrip is on is not the standard "Control" colour but Orange, this is not a big deal and can be sorted easily but it still doesn't explain why the gradients are different between the two when no settings are different.
If I add another toolstrip directly below the misbehaving one, the gradient is correct so there must be something wrong with that particular one.

Something I had noticed was that the BackColor field although being set to the same value of "Control" is written in a bold font on the misbehaving one.

I hope someone can shed some light on this.

Thanks
