Study conducted proves WIFI signals could be dangerous

Posted 28 May 2013 - 01:45 PM

http://abcnews.go.co...t-plant-growth/

TL;DR
Some Danish 9th-grade girls were inspired to do this experiment after connecting lack of focus with sleeping with their cellphones near their heads. Since they couldn't do tests on brain functions, they planted some herbs away from and near a WIFI router to simulate similar signals affect on organic matter. Plants near router died, plants away from router grew normally.

I just thought I'd post this since I complain about lack of focus and such all the time, and it didn't even dawn on me that it might be because I sleep with both my cellphone and my tablet on my bed stand not 2 feet from my pillow. Then again, I use my phone as an alarm. I think I might try putting it across the room or something. Just something to try out.

Now I know this has been debated before, with the whole "cellphones cause brain cancer" campaign that's been going on for ages, but hows about WIFI routers? This is the first I've heard of it.

Is This A Good Question/Topic? 0

I'll wait until a more reigned in experiment happens. You know - one with a consistent control, minimal variable variance, etc.

Yeah, this doesn't really seem like knock-down stuff to me. I mean, to start with your brain is not an herb.

Saw this last week.

Agree with modi. Some scientists have already said they would like to recreate the experiment.

I'm waiting for then to draw conclusions of my own.

Oh, and I don't usually sleep with my phone next to my head in the first place...

This is why, in my house, we go all-in on the tin foil.

I'll be honest - I am more concerned about the experimental Fundawear I've been sporting.

Quote

Condom manufacturer Durex have developed Fundawear, a high-tech vibrating underwear that stimulates at the touch of a button, meaning long-distance relationships have never been easier (or more fun).
...
First the couple put on the Fundawear (pants for men, bra and knickers for women) and then drag their finger tips across a body diagram on the iPhone app.

This sends signals to set off the mini-vibrators in the underwear, which creates touch sensations as if the couple were in the very same room.

Yeah, I'd be worried. Wifi in your trousers? You're just asking for a wilted willie...

Well, this is the first I've seen it. I know it's not really completely conclusive, but if there's that much of an effect on organic matter, then there is something to think about. Twas just food for thought. I wasn't going all tin-foil hat or anything, but I am going to try the whole moving-my-phone thing for shits and giggles.

Maybe the ones that are dying are in range of your router?

Mine too. I blame my router, and not the fact that I haven't installed a gutter so the roof run-off literally cut one of my strawberry plants in half. Fucking internet.

Good thing I buy food from the store. They seem unaffected by the routers!

Nah, they just didn't factor in that they talked more to the plants that were away from the router than the plants that were near the router. Remember there was also a study that showed that talking to plants made them grow better. :)

But the ones closer to the router had better signal - surely they had a much better social networking experience, don't you think?
