Change the image when an image map is hovered?

Posted 05 June 2013 - 05:14 PM

I had this sort of navigation graphic idea in mind and am trying to apply it. Basically I want the image to have an image map where clicking a certain part of the image will be its own link. While the mouse is hovered on the portion, I want the image to change (don't worry, I have that part panned out. It is just a separate image with a box highlighted around the selection).

Sorry if this sounds vague. I've been playing with the "onmouseover", but am not sure how to apply it to a map.

Is This A Good Question/Topic? 0

For now, I just split up the image into three different .jpg image links. Is this acceptable? It's just a couple more images I had to code in rather than one larger image to be mapped.
