Well hopefully the Candians don't lynch you or anything. We have a few of them here. As for the matchup, they seem to be pretty evenly matched but I think the Bruins might take it again. The Bruins are aggressive and one of those teams that like to get rough, plus they have been there before recently and may handle the pressure a bit better.

But honestly, it could be either one of them. I am not a huge hockey fan, but since I live in Canada I am expected to know something about this country's national past time.

That's a good point! I think Chicago will take it with their speed, and fantastic forechecking. haha and don't count Chicago out from a rough game. Chicago took the 'Hits' category of the stats in game 1 :)

I don't have a dog in this fight but I can't stand the Bruins.

I gotta say, I did watch some of the Pens/Bruins series and I've never seen a team seem so...uninterested...as the Pens were at times in those games. I think the Pens have more talent but it was almost like they expected to win whereas the Bruins worked their asses off to win.

the problem there was poor usage of one of the greatest right wings ever---
no power play for iginla
played him on left
didnt play with crosby

---also
played letang on pp instead of martin
played malkin on point

----worried to much about hitting and not enough about the game

----left the goalies out to dry way to much

love my pens but damn---

So you think it was a coaching problem that caused them to lose the series?

See, here's the thing: for the small amount of that series that I saw, I'd have put it 80/20 on the players. The 20 to the coaching would have been for things like their breakout play (getting the puck out of their end and down the ice under control) and their attacking end play (forechecking, dump and chase and the like). That stuff does require coaching but no matter how good or bad the coaching, the players have to execute it and the Pens just never seemed to play with any sense of urgency or if they did, it was on and off.

The coach sets up the program, creates the plays, sets the lineups and then wears a nice suit and stands behind the bench for three periods hopefully watching his well paid professional players execute his gameplan. Pitt just seemed to kind of slump around half-assing it most of the times I saw them.

Oddly enough, that whole thing, where playoff hockey is concerned, has little to do usually with the stars. Crosby, Malkin, those guys...they had reasonable series. Where half-assing it kills you is where playoff hockey teams who excel have the edge: the 3rd and 4th lines. You look at Stanley Cup winning teams and you'll find 3rd and 4th lines who are playing way above their pay grade during the playoffs. Typically, the top lines tend to cancel one another out and it's left to the role players to make the impact.

Those guys on Pittsburgh got outplayed by their counterparts on Boston.

and thats exactly why chicago and boston are doing so well. their depth players are picking up the work because the star players are so say "counteracting" each other
