memcache installion problem when calling phpize

Posted 08 July 2013 - 05:55 PM

I have downloaded the latest version of memcache from here. After I run commands that below..

tar xvf memcache-3.0.8.tgz
cd memcache-3.0.8
/usr/local/php/bin/phpize

the latest line is the where my problem starting. Hash says there is no folder or file like this.

I am not sure if I am being dense, but I don't recall my latest installation of PHP having phpize bundled with it, are you sure yours does? Personally, when installing memcache on a new server I will just use a distribution platform like yum or apt-get, is that not a possible solution for you? Also, when dealing with memcache learn the differences between memcache and memcached, it will save you a small headache later.

I'm following a book for installing memcache.. There is some article(like this) about installing but when I call as below:
$cache = new Memcache;

Output:
Fatal error: Class 'Memcache' not found in /var/www/autoload/index.php

What's wrong?

Thanks for helps. I have found the solution.
sudo apot-get install php5-dev

After I get path of phpize
which phpize

And It returns
/usr/bin/phpize

And I used this, and solved :)
