This is just bad. Thanks for ruining a thread with perfectly good potential.

I'm out.

I believe you've been speaking of:

The Dunning Kruger Effect (Illusory Superiority)

In which incompetent people will:
- Overestimate themselves
- Fail to recognize genuine skill in others
- Fail to realize the level of their own inadequacy
- recognize and acknowledge this, given that they are properly trained

It was earlier mentioned that if we used technology to simply preserve our bodies instead of digitizing ourselves, the world would very quickly run out of space. However, we would have so much manpower and predictably low pay amounts that we could research and manufacture a means of inhabiting another planet much faster than we can now.

I've been around for a while, I just don't really post often and I'm not a very good programmer and I've never actually dwelled the Caffeine Lounge.

Its just a new type of evolution. We just haven't been around enough to see it. I want to coin a new term for this category of evolution: "Self-Evolution". It is an evolution in which an organism is so intelligent that it evolves not by natural means, but with the aid of artificial means which aims to enhance their own abilities."
So, I don't think we have choice. It will happen sooner or later. After we finally gain immortality, we then need to deal with the hordes of attacking aliens bent on our extinction!

There, made that more interesting.

They're not playing as god. If they were, they'd be drowning babies and making weird demands of others like prohibiting the consumption of shellfish.
