Each request in load balance ?

Posted 22 July 2013 - 08:20 AM

If I had two servers. They are 「ServerA」 and 「ServerB」.

And I also use the 「Load Balance」.

If I was assigned to 「ServerA」 when I login the website.

Then the following requests (like retrieve some data) will also be assigned to the 「ServerA」 rather than 「ServerB」?

According to what my co-worker said, the each request will be assigned to the same server as which you were assigned while you login the website.

I am just wondering whether it is correct or not ?

The answer should be easily researched with a key missing bit of information here, & that is what web server software you are running. Under Apache, I would assume that the session values are either shared between the servers, or the load balancing software would be intelligent enough to pass the values back to the originating session/server. In the event of an outage, however, if the session is not shared the user would be forced to re-authenticate.

But just providing generic information of "Server A", "Server B", & "Load Balance", well, your guess is as good as mine, there is no way to validate the guess, & there is no basis of solid, factual information to add to the discussion with your co worker.
