Last night my friends and I were have a few beers and this topic came up: if you could go back in time and prevent either Hitler killing millions of people or prevent cigarettes from ever being made, which would it be? (No one would take their place) Hitler killed roughly near 11 million people (a fixed number) where as the cigarette guy, even after his death, has killed more. What do you guys think and please provide your reasons. They both are F***ed up tho.

EDIT** I know its choice vs murder, but far more people are and will be affected by cigs.
Also, there is a difference between outlawing cigs and completely stopping them from coming into existence ever. So, dont talk about outlawing it when the choice is to completely cease its existence, or Hilters.

The choice between government-sponsored ethnic cleansing or self-inflicted lung cancer? Obviously, there was drinking involved to even pose the question.

Bottom line: Hitler ordered the systematic slaughter of millions. Cigarette guy didn't do shit to anybody. No one forced my hand to take up smoking. It will be no one's fault but my own should I die of cigarette-related illness.

I doubt there was one guy who made cigarettes. Tobacco has been popular for ages and was likely self discovered by several different groups. Also, I have no problem with people smoking. It is their choice and their choice alone.

I would't go back to kill Hitler; after all, who knows, we might be worse off today if world war two never happened.

I certainly don't think whoever discovered tobacco and it's effects deserves to die for it, however i would outlaw smoking if i could.

So, you would NOT go back and save MILLIONS of lives... because then things might be different.
