Calling the holocaust the worst calamity in human history is nothing short of ludicrous. Going by just the death toll, the Black Death epidemic was worth sixteen holocausts and the 1918 Spanish flu pandemic worth over twelve, with both of them topping even the highest death toll estimates for the entire second world war.

Did I say that? There is an impact, but to assume it's massive enough to ban smoking with minimal actual demonstrable evidence to do so?

That's on par with making weed illegal because of a study which only actually showed that oxygen deprivation for 10 minutes isn't good for your brain.

You're being ridiculous, I assume because you're addiction is calling. There is a significant impact, we just don't know how outrageously costly it is yet because there are many variables. The fact is, if I put as much arsenic in your food as your smoking puts in my air, I'd go to jail, and that's only one of smoking's poisons.

I don't even smoke. But banning smoking would be retarded. Banning things doesn't work.

The choice between government-sponsored ethnic cleansing or self-inflicted lung cancer? Obviously, there was drinking involved to even pose the question.

Bottom line: Hitler ordered the systematic slaughter of millions. Cigarette guy didn't do shit to anybody. No one forced my hand to take up smoking. It will be no one's fault but my own should I die of cigarette-related illness.

I acknowledge that, but sometime a person gets into either by pier pressure and cant stop or they super 2nd hand problems. Plus, there is also the fact that there are far more deaths world wide caused by smoking.

PM me with questions, problems, comments, and concerns.

Changed my mind (I'm allowed to do that)... recent posts have made me curious where this is going. Reopened.

Hell, look at how effective the laws against weed are now.

Im not saying outlaw it, I meant that it would never have come into existence. So, it wouldnt NOT be available at all.

I would't go back to kill Hitler; after all, who knows, we might be worse off today if world war two never happened.

I certainly don't think whoever discovered tobacco and it's effects deserves to die for it, however i would outlaw smoking if i could.

So, you would NOT go back and save MILLIONS of lives... because then things might be different.

But you WOULD go back and outlaw one of the major crops that built this country... because obviously that wouldn't change anything today.

WTF???

EDIT: "This country" being the US. Yes, I realize we don't ALL live here. I just like to PRETEND we do.

You guys need to read carefully. I never said OUTLAW, I said kill the person/or group of people who made cigs. Thus, it would be 100% unavailable. And you might wanna look up how many people have died from cigarettes world wide and continue to, Hilter, although horrible, only killed 11 million. A fraction of the toll from cigarettes since it is on going.

Smoking doesn't harm others.

Wait, what? Um, no. Granted, it certainly harms the user far more directly.

I know a number of people who react very badly to airborne nicotine ( and nightshades in general. ) It only takes a careless cloud to evoke a migraine or arthritis flare up.

I wish it were banned. Or, rather, illegal. Then it would be enjoyed in private places, out of my face, like all the other illegal drugs

The guy who made cigarettes? Probably some Mayan dude. They always knew were to find the good shit. Unlike stupid Europeans, early Native Americans tended to partake in moderation. From this perspective, tobacco has been far more successful than Montezuma's Revenge at cursing genocidal invaders.

I agree. People always complain about Hitler being the most evil person ever, but what about Stalin or Mao? What about the Tasmanian genocide? Or invading the Native Americans land and killing and raping them? Ahh, good ol' education system we have...

Im just reminding you tho. And I know it comes from a plant, but I meant discovering its use for cigs. Im pretty sure that are countless plants out there that we have yet to alter or use their potential.

Wow, you are fucking dumb. Yes, those were tragic calamities... caused by NATURE, and at the time due to lack of knowledge or technology, couldn't really be prevented. The Holocaust was caused my MAN, which could have been prevented. The fact that you are comparing smoking to the Holocaust is fucking atrocious and disgusting.
