idk if flash has built in RTMP server/streaming functionality. You might as well go with a preexisting service. If you need a bunch of services like chat, recording, playback when you're not streaming - then go with livestream. Be warned though, they only allow like 50 people and iirc they have intermittent ads. They also offer more lenient paid services. I believe their apps are nifty as well.

If you don't want to be limited by this and you just want streaming, using limev. I absolutely love limev cause it's a no-bs service that offers high quality RTMP streaming. They only have one picture ad that can be closed when you open the webpage. Super easy to integrate into your site.

Using Flash??? You're automatically excluding hundreds of millions of iPhones, iPads, most (almost all?) Android phones, and other computers that will not run it or do not run it by choice. Try html5.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think what he means is he's streaming from his phone, onto a Web page (viewed on a computer).

Once it's on a web page it no longer matters where it came from. It only matters what can view/use it. Flash is only acceptable (and barely that) on a laptop or desktop/tower computer, if it's allowed there. Everything else either excludes it completely or does a very poor job (lots of jitter, poor battery performance, etc.) of using it.

Are there any html5 RTMP streaming services though? If compatibility with mobile devices is a goal, then he should use Livestream. They offer mobile apps for both iOS and android.

I don't understand the question. RTMP is a Flash protocol, so asking for HTML5 to support it is basically asking to defeat the purpose of using HTML5: it won't be standards compliant and it will rely on proprietary, resource hogging Flash code.

Didn't know RTMP was a flash protocol. Thought it was just for streaming and just usually utilized through Flash. Adobe's RTMP streamer should have tipped me off though :P

This issue doesn't seem to have anything to do with PHP, and only marginally related to HTML (as in it being the delivery mechanism for the Flash player.) It appears to me to be entirely Flash related: how a Flash video streaming protocol should be piped through the Flash player.

So, I'm moving this to the Flash forum.
