general question regarding programing work force.

Posted 08 August 2013 - 07:46 PM

This is my second try at posting I hope it works the second time around..

I have been thinking of a career change and I'm interested in movimg into the programing field.
My main concern is he Job force, is the field saturated with programers or is there a lot f jbs out there that are avaiilabe..

I would apprecriate all advice..

Also I'm from Ontario, Canada. So if there are any Canadians in the field working here in the field I would love to hear from you..

Tx folks!!

You should be able to get a feel by just looking at your local job boards and talking to some recruiters..

This is not a c# question - moving to cubicle corner.

Thanks for the replies folks,

Mod123

Sorry for..posting in the wrong area..I have checked my local papers, there's a lot of recruiting agencies out just looking for programmers, I'm not sure if they are just trying to fill their shelves with programmers or if they have clients looking for programmers..I also say a lot of ds for web developers would C#. Help me in that field or does it all fall under the same umbrella.

Mich126

Thanks for the heads up I'll be contacting Martyr2

There are quite a few opportunities for programmers in the GTA (of course, with a higher concentration directly in Toronto). Even on Kijiji alone you will find a good number of .NET Developer postings.

Yes, there are quite a few programmers looking for work; however, if you study, practice, and make yourself marketable you'll be able to find a job as a programmer.

Best of luck to you, Bob!

@Andrew and Daren thanks for the replies..I'll checkout Monster and Jobfind .

I must assume that I would be able to start a business as a programmer doing it on the side while I continue to work and eventually move into the field in a full time role...

You should at the least get certified. Also, just wondering, what draws you to programming as a replacement for your prior field? Please don't say it's the money.
