Most states are like that, when they have a large contrast in regions.

Florida is known for being full of right wing crazies who shoot each other over nothing and ruin elections.

But hey, we have left wing nut bags too who shoot each other for completely DIFFERENT reasons.

Speaking of, Florida man strikes again in Florida. Kills wife and posts image on facebook with confession.

Florida man, the worlds worst superhero.

I could be wrong here.... I'm not, but I could be.... I don't believe naming your children is entirely your choice. In fact, the mother of said children will likely have spent many hours of her life deciding on exactly what she would like to name her future parasites. For your own safety when the time comes, tread gently in your baby name arguments with a pregnant woman. She will fuck you up over baby names.

That being said, as one who has birthed parasites firsthand, I would absolutely use Cthulhu. But you'd only be naming my kid Danger if you killed me first.

Well obviously it would require discussion, but anyone I liked enough to enchild would more than likely be of a mind to entertain such notions.

Don't get too committed to this idea. You might be surprised by what life hands you.

Not that I particularly care but reading that article two things stick out to me.

1) They couldn't come up with a name and because they couldn't come up with one they had to go to court

2) The name change didn't come out of left field. It was already something the judge had to rule on.

Based on these two facts that no one mentioned when introducing this story, I would say that the judge was within rights to change the name regardless of her reasoning for doing it. Also, based on that story, it would seem that only the mother wanted that name. So I'm going to go out on a limb and say that we're only getting half the story and badly out of context quotes.

Also: What the hell kind of drugs do you have to take to name your kid any of the things mentioned in the BBC article. Someone wanted to name their kid O.crnia? And luckily was 'talked down' to Oceania. Dafuq?

Quote

The boy's parents were in court because they could not agree on the child's last name

She was to rule on the last name. The first name was not up for judicial debate.

Quote

The boy's mother, Jaleesa Martin, of Newport, said she will appeal. She says Messiah is unique and she liked how it sounded alongside the boy's two siblings - Micah and Mason.

Obviously, the mother wanted Messiah. It doesn't say what the father wanted. What the judge wanted should be of absolutely no fucking concern at all whatsoever.

My buddy down in Ft. Lauderdale knows someone who named their daughter...

La-a

Note, that is pronounced:

La dash ah

Nope, not la ah, not la hyphen ah, not la minus ah, not la negative ah...

La dash ah.

Either this is more common than it should be, or they've moved to Cincinnati. I was picking my then roommate up from work when he was approached by someone wanted to hand in an application. He worked at Buffalo Wild Wings as a manager. He looks at it, looks at the girl giving it to him, and says "La..a?" She gets this look on her face like he's stupid and says, "It's la-dash-a" I just facepalmed.

She didn't get the job.

Probably the attitude, lack of appropriate skills, and needing three weeks of vacation up front as well as vested 401k with a 7% match.

Well, the one story detail was in there that modi did actually tag correctly. Her attitude.

First rule of applying for a job - don't give snide looks to the hiring manager and act put out when he mispronounces your name, if your name is difficult to understand from the medium provided.

This goes for Polish names too. Kaczanowicz is a mouth full, get used to it.

Edit cause I was totally derogatory and totally didn't mean to be. I blame growing up in Detroit for this one.

Her name was La-a Kaczanowicz? Did her parents hate her?
