In my companies, we mostlty use wnidows 7 or win-XP. It is not our's company, most of companies use this unless they are domain specific.

I use Debian at home.
CentOS and Fedora at work.

It's what I use now. Windows 7 or Linux doesn't have shit for compilers when compared to Bloodshed Dev C++ & Turbo C on Windows 98 SE.

From what I understood Bloodshed's Dev-C++ compiler was just the GCC Compiler from Linux ported to Windows with a GUI added on.

I found this on their website:

Quote

Bloodshed Dev-C++ is a full-featured Integrated Development Environment (IDE) for the C/C++ programming language. It uses Mingw port of GCC (GNU Compiler Collection) as it's compiler. Dev-C++ can also be used in combination with Cygwin or any other GCC based compiler.

I can't defend Window's 7... or anything Microsoft does, but I had no problems using Dev-C++ on Xp years ago before I switched to Linux. There was a slight learning curve to picking up GCC, as with any switch to a new OS or compiler. I've ran Dev-C++ with Wine on Linux to compile Windows binaries, but I still find GCC is just as powerful and well documented.

I'm currently running Windows 7, and primarily use Notepad++ and Eclipse to code in.

I am also working on a new development machine, since my laptop appears to be dying on me. That will most likely run a Linux distro as well as Windows 8 for some casual gaming and Windows Phone development (I really hate that Microsoft decided to limit the Windows Phone 8 development environment to machines running Windows 8).

I use Linux at home for most of my programming work which is done in Qt and/or in Java. In College we use Windows XP SP3 which is not bad as long as you have an IDE and dont ever bother with command line compilation or execution. Needless to say I use Windows only if I absolutely have to

Windows 7 pro at work since the software i work on is very operating specific, so we tend to focus on windows.
Windows 8.1 pro at home i am a gamer and every other OS really sucks for that though on my personal laptop i run debian cause its my preferable choice for when coding java ee stuff.
