So this is hard to explain but essentially I have a slider object in a web page and a navbar in a drop down. If the navbar is in the main container along with the carousel I set the z-index of the nav high and it overlaps over the carousel on its dropdown (this is what I want).
When I have two containers (USING BOOTSTRAP) with one outside putting the navbar in it's own container separate from the one below it will NOT GO OVER THE SLIDER. The weird part is it will go over the container but not the slider. This makes no sense. Does anyone have any ideas?

It turns out the opacity was causing this to go behind FOR SOME CRAZY REASON. I can't figure this out why opacity would make any difference but at least I know why
