Missing "afxwin.h" for VisualC++ in Win7

Posted 23 August 2013 - 07:17 PM

I need modify some example application code, but the compiler report error message:
" fatal error C1083: Cannot open include file: 'afxwin.h'".

I believe the orginal code pass WinXP with VisualStudio 2005. I am using Win7 and Visual Studio Express 2008, is the Win7 causing problem? or Express version doesn't have the 'afxwin.h'? And how to fix this problem?

Regards
Sam

afxwin.h is a MFC header file. As I recall, the Express editions of Visual Studio don't come with MFC.

The code project article should help you get unstuck.

See post #4. (Or you could use a search engine and find the same thing within the top 3 hits, I believe.)

I go to this website, download and install the "Windows Kits" to my Win7, I can find the two directories:
"Windows Kits\8.0\Lib\Mfc\X86"
"Windows Kits\8.0\Lib\Atl\X86";

But I can't find the file "afxwin.inl", there is no "afxwin.h" file as well.

Do Compile, it fial on can't find "afxwin.h" file.

Sam

Look in the "Include" directory.

There is a "Windows Kits\8.0\Include" directory, but no "afxwin.inl", there is no "afxwin.h" file as well.

There is no item in the "Toolbox". I am using Visual Studio Express 2008 in Win7, how much can it usable?

Should I put Visual Studio Express 2010?

Did you look in the "inc" directory as stated in the CodeProject screenshots? (See step 4)
