Learning web development

Posted 24 August 2013 - 11:16 AM

Hey everyone, I have quite a problem, I've been on web dev some time already not too much but enough to get know with the basics, but now as i know the basics and i try to move to more complicated things they get too complicated for me, still when i come back to a basics things is way too boring and is like yea i already know what i read there.

I would love to ask someone that is experienced to advice me something, some learning approaches some books or something, because now I'm like in coding crysis and is hard to move on.

Thanks everyone :)

Okay.. pick a language and run with it. PHP, javascript, ruby, etc. Learn the difference between serverside and client side scripting.

Start with HTML, then move to CSS. Then you can learn some dynamic scripting language as Javascript or his library jQuery. Or you can simple move to PHP + SQL for advanced web applications.

The above reply by Pogaca is is a good start -

One thing you could do is get very familiar with client server interactions.

What is the GET method?
What is the POST method?

Why are they different?

Learn the DOM and what you can do with it.

Once you have a good understanding of Client Server interaction you will then be ready to put it all together.

There are some good references in my signature and this site a ton of tutorials that are great.

One thing that I did, when I started, was look at a site I liked and then dug into their code and see what they did. Then tried to find tutorials and ask questions to get a better understanding. Don't be afraid to work hard and fail in order to learn.

Also check out the use of the Developers Console.

A fun thing to do when you think you already got everything settled in the basics is try learning AJAX, PHP, and JQuery and combine them to make something. PHP will greatly help you with whatever development you are doing if you dont already know it?

You'll always be learning with PHP.

The GET method sends the encoded user information appended to the page request. The page and the encoded information are separated by the ? character.

The POST method transfers information via HTTP headers. The information is encoded as described in case of GET method and put into a header called QUERY_STRING.
