I'm guessing the flaming was hidden/deleted because I thought I was being respectful and courteous

After thinking about this last month - here are three more:

- Bronies are annoying. While I may not be able to draw a specific line I do know when you have crossed it into obsession.
- Anime really isn't that good. After a brief three month phase of being in and out Suncoast videos I realized it was all the same damn plot.
- Congrats, you just discovered an OS that isn't like the one you have been using. Scrape the spunk off your chest and move on.

Spoiler

@Valek - There was no hidden posts (save for some folks editing theirs), but like we didn't know where that conversation was going.

Fair enough. I try to make a point to understand differing viewpoints as much as possible so I understand all sides of an argument. It hadn't occurred to me to think of where this discussion has gone in the past (not naming events because I don't want to start anything here).

I'll leave it alone :)

btw, love you Chris :)/>

Kid. Exec at a recently acquired startup. New house. Wife. Family. Hobbies.

That should have been a comma separated list, but I'm too lazy to go back and edit it.

Is it too late to point out that there's a big difference between saying "I don't like the Beatles" and saying "the Beatles suck"? If you say the former, you're expressing an opinion, which is a statement about you. The latter is a claim about the world. You are welcome to hold your opinions, and people might be inclined to discuss them, but they are privileged facts to which you have a certain ownership. When you make claims about the world, on the other hand, you are making claims about facts that are in the public sphere, and implicitly asserting that others agree with them.

So I'm not surprised that others responded to your claim. It was incorrect, and they didn't want to be participants in your misconception, which they would have been if they'd allowed it to be asserted without being challenged.

Unpopular opinions... hmmm...

1) Half of those currently programming shouldn't... they make horrible shit.
2) People need to put down their smartphones and rejoin the world again
3) Oblivion was awesome... for its day and Skyrim is way better
4) NeoTifa is actually really really nice even though she tries not to act like it
5) Sports video games are largely lame
6) People walking down a hallway, street, sidewalk, or any other place which there is a one direction flow of foot traffic need to move to the side first if they want to pull a dead stop.
7) Get rid of wedge women shoes. They are not flattering.

Last but not least... I never liked SpectateSwamp.

:)

I agreed with you until your last sentence.

The general use of the phrase "Blargh sucks" is usually interpreted as meaning "I don't like Blargh", except for by the most pedantic. Meaning that they probably were not responding to the claims for the reason you describe, but more likely because they did not agree with the person who said "Blargh sucks".

Especially since Absynthe said "I think the Beatles suck", further exemplifying that she meant it as opinion.
