Arduino Base Rc Car

Posted 10 September 2013 - 10:04 AM

Hey there,

For my a computer project that i am doing for college, i am creating a Arduino Based Rc Car with a camera attached. What I want to do is control the Rc from the computer with live feed from the camera. And possibly have a game pad support for adjustable speed.

My questions are;

Is this possible?
What Arduino board and components to get?
How to make the arduino understand the computer?

any other info would be much Appreciated.

thanks

Is This A Good Question/Topic? 0

Yes.. welcome to the world of 'xBee'.

What Arduino board and components to get?

Probably the newest.

Parts? The arduino.. a chassis.. wheels.. servos to spin the wheels.. a battery pack.. what ever your camera is.. your camera mount.. the xbee kit ... batteries..

How to make the arduino understand the computer?

That is your project, right? So you research how to program an arduinuo, become familiar with the setup, and then start tacking on parts. Can you get it to move the wheels.. move the wheels at various speeds.. can you get it to transmit video.. can you get the xbees to connect? Can you get the xbees to transmit data about movement. .can you get them to transmit data.

any other info would be much Appreciated.

Ardrinos SDK make it very simple to program in an embedded enviorment. You don't have to know anything about AVR programming to program an ardruino. I suggest getting the latest ardruino UNO micro controller. I believe the latest is R3, and you can get it around 30 bucks on amazon.

Heres the download for the Ardurino SDK
