Without seeing your code it doesn't look like you have specified an SQL username or password both would be needed in a connection string. Please show your code for further assistance.

umm....i do't get that what you said "CODE" it does not need a code it is the starting of making a crystal report and i am having an error so i have not even reached to the code to even show the report !

Here is again what i want to ask
i opened a new project and named it "my project " okay, since database is already shown in "Server explorer " by it self so i clicked onto tree view of database named "crystalrepo.mdf" to active it (otherwise it shows a close red mark on it )

then i right clicked on "my project" in "Solution explorer" and selected "ADD " and "NEW ITEM " in sub menu after that a dialog-box appears there i selected "Reporting" and then i clicked on "Crystal report"!

after clicking crystal report another dialog-box appears named "Crystal Report Gallery" in this dialog-box i select following !
in first page first i selected ---"Using the report wizard" ----in that "Crystal report gallery " dialog-box !
in second page i clicked on ----"Create new connection " tree view and then clicked on "OLE DB (ADO) "
in third page i selected -------"Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server "
then finally "crystal report gallery " asks for 1)-Server name, 2)user ID ,3)Password ,4)Database name, and Integrated Security !

so that what i am asking what i should put in "Server Name" and in other boxes because what i put earlier that showed an ERROR !

And you don't need to quote everything. quote goes with /quote not \quote.

To get servername you need to run this @@SERVERNAME in your management studio

You have mentioned that you receive an error a few times but you have yet to tell us what this error is.

Please post the full error message.

(A screenshot of the error would be more useful than that of an empty form ;) )

"xargin-PC" is your pc name, but \SQLEXPRESS is the instance name, but put the error message you're getting here so we can see.

best thing to do is download sql management studio, login to the instance your trying to connect to

typically these are .\SQLEXPRESS .\MYSQLEXPRESS or (local)

typically sql needs to be configured initially :)

hope this helps

I don't know what version of sql server you have but here is Microsoft® SQL Server® 2008 Management Studio Express, this is an IDE environment you can use instead of sql cmd console.

Also check in SQL Server Configuration Manager that the SQL Server Browser service and your sql server instance is in Running state.
