Can't make new thread in C/C++ challenges subforum

Posted 02 October 2013 - 05:05 PM

This is strange, I tried posting a challenge in that subforum. I get no error messages or anything, but the thread doesn't appear. Tried it twice, nothing. Any ideas?

Challenges are a protected thing. You probably don't have the permission to do so.
Otherwise every kid and his dog thinks their rookie question is a 'challenge' since it was challenging to them.

Threads in the challenges forum require Mentor/Forum Leader/Team Member approval. It's to stop first time posters from plugging homework under the guise of a fun challenge.

Ah, okay. That makes sense. Well it's a pretty decent challenge I think. It's kind of advanced. Writing a 6502 emulator. I have a whole write-up for it with info, test ROM image, resource links, etc. Any way to post it? :)

EDIT: Just a suggestion, maybe another solution would be to have another subforum under it where people can post a prospective challenge to be approved but it can't be replied to in the mean time. A mod/admin could just move acceptable ones to the real challenges forum. Just an idea.

I wouldn't be surprised if your post is already there, just not approved. That's what happens with tutorials, so my guess is the same sort of mechanism is in place for challenges.
