I get that. And he might even be right in many cases. I just don't see how this applies to the OP, who apparently has a quite reasonable goal and is mostly interested in advice that meets that particular goal, and not some other (which other goal would also be reasonable, it's just not the one they're interested in).

I guess I'm reading "I don't want to build muscles" as meaning "I don't want to be massive and cut, I just want to be a geek without a belly". That's a useful clarification, not an excuse for laziness.

That being said, I think I've made all the useful contributions I can make towards that goal: eat reasonably and increase your daily level of physical exertion is really about all I can say here. So all I can add to that is, good luck, OP! Hope it works!

supersloth has it. I certainly am not saying that you have to look like Mr. Universe to be in shape; in fact, I don't even think that's necessarily being in the best shape you can. With that much muscle, I would imagine that any quantity of intense cardio would be a nightmare without an oxygen mask. I'm simply saying that you would have to put a professional bodybuilder's quantity of work into diet and lifting to end up looking like that, and there are plenty of goals on the normal human side of bodybuilder that will make you feel good about yourself. Building muscular definition as a byproduct of your fitness is motivating as hell when it happens, so I hate to see people avoid it as a means to not look like a meat head.

My mentality is that it's easier to maintain then it is to gain (in terms of muscle/fitness). Its easier by far to stay at a reasonable level of fitness then it is to pull yourself up to that level. It can be worth putting in a massive level of effort to get yourself there, and then only work to maintain that, rather then keep on pushing, which ties on to whats been said previously.

But imagine being a geek with rock hard abs and well defined pecs and biceps! You'd have the brains and the brawn. It's the next stage in human evolution :)

i will never recommend rock hard abs and well defined pecs and biceps, i don't think even Roger Federer needs them.

jogging at morning will be the best option...

The better equipped you are (mentally, physically, in material means) the more options are available to you in almost any situation. A beam falls on you, and you need to lift it off (there's a fire). If you had big muscles, you're more likely to survive. I give an extreme example but it still applies in less extreme situations, and in others where other skills matter.

It could be compared to learning how to swim. You might intend to never be near water and/or to never be in a situation where you need to swim, but it's still a useful skill to learn/have just in case.

Yeah, that would be dumb. Bitches hate rock hard abs and well defined pecs and biceps.
