Wordpress Child Theme CSS Issues

Posted 02 November 2013 - 10:53 AM

What I'm aiming to do is have my menus all match the same color as they used to be. Last week I went through the 5th (of 10 weeks) of a Wordpress class. In that week we setup a child theme to make customizations to the CSS. This week I imported Wordpress pages in .xml format though I would not figure that would affect the content being affected by my theme's CSS, I must be wrong though. This isn't part of an assignment to get a grade, as I've already had my menu graded last week, at this point I'm trying to understand what just happened, knowledge is power so that way I can avoid it happening again.

I've tried different ways of selecting the menu content in my css though it makes no difference.

/*

Theme Name: Custom Theme for YarnStore site
Description: This is a CHILD THEME using the Responsive theme.
Author: William Leininger
Template: responsive

*/

@import url("../responsive/style.css");
@import url(http://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Lily+Script+One);

.entry-title, .entry-title a:link, .entry-title a:visited   {
     color: #c46c98;
     font-size: 24px;
     font-family: 'Lily Script One', cursive;

}

div#container.hfeed div#header div.main-nav ul#menu-home.menu {
     color: #c46c98;
}

#menu-home.menu {
     color: #c46c98;
}

.entry-title a:hover {
     text-decoration: underline;
}

a	  {
     color: #c46c98;
}

a:link	  {
     color: #c46c98;
}

h3	{
     font-size: 20px;
     line-height: 1.5em;
     font-weight: bold;
}

h4	{
     font-size: 14px;
}

Below is the code that the instructor said should work as well as the site example

Site:

/*
Theme Name: Custom Theme for YarnStore site
Description: This is a CHILD THEME using the Responsive theme.
Author: Sally Student
Template: responsive
*/

@import url("../responsive/style.css");
@import url(http://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Lily+Script+One);

.entry-title, .entry-title a:link, .entry-title a:visited {
	color: #c46c98;
	font-size: 24px;
	font-family: 'Lily Script One', cursive;
}

.entry-title a:hover {
text-decoration: underline;
}

a:link	{
color: #c46c98;
}

h3	{
font-size: 20px;
line-height: 1.5em;
font-weight: bold;
}

h4	{
font-size: 14px;
}

The link you gave for your site isn't working.
