IT Helpdesk Software

Posted 20 November 2013 - 03:23 PM

What is your preferred IT Helpdesk Software? We are currently running Spice Works and I like a lot better than our old one.

Anyone have a better software?

I was just checking to see what software everyone preferred when they were doing the IT tickets. Spiceworks is actually quite nice when it comes to the information you can put in it and it is designed to be modded.

creativecoding & I wrote this, & I use it at my repair shop for customer & ticket tracking. Before that I was using xrms, & it was a pain in the ass with more than one other person.

Before Spiceworks we had Help Desk Authority and used Mobile Asset for the inventory. I really glad now that we have our inventory and IT tickets all in one places, especially since I am the one that keeps track of the inventory system primarly.

Spice Works

Me and one of the other techs thought about coding it ourselves but when we looked at what needed to be done vs our case load, we decided to give Spiceworks a Try. We tested it for 6 Months, he passed on before we had made the decision to use it.

I like Remedy well enough.

At my last job, my primary job was to build and maintain our own ticketing system and CMDB internal to our team that we just called 'Service Manager.' It was really cool.

Currently we have an in house IM system called Hermes. It was created well before my time here, but works really well for a homegrown. I think one of the other IT Guys is looking into PHP script to integrate it into spice works but right now we are running 80-90 issues a day for 4 techs/Admins.
