XML Parsing Error: not well-formed

Posted 03 December 2013 - 02:34 PM

XML Parsing Error: not well-formed
Location: file:///C:/inetpub/wwwroot/after%20the%20hate/New%20Text%20document.aspx
Line Number 1, Column 3:

I have googled this. Anyway, it seems that whatever associated with Visual Studio, perfectly working prior to association or not, would now no longer work and get a XML parsing error like the above.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled IIS. I have checked ASP.NET.

I did change the .NET Framework from 2 to 4 and back. Other options aren't available to me.

Because I use Express, I don't have access to Visual Studio's Command Prompt.

What do?

We'll need a little more information than that. Please include the ENTIRE error message, as well as any information you can about what was happening and with what values when the error was thrown. Have you used your debugger to walk through the process?

XML Parsing Error: not well-formed
Location: file:///C:/inetpub/wwwroot/after%20the%20hate/New%20Text%20document.aspx
Line Number 1, Column 3: <%@ Page Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true"  CodeFile="Default.aspx.cs" Inherits="_Default" %>
--^

Edit: For clarification, the third column is the '%'. There's a space before '<'.

 <%@ Page Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true"  CodeFile="Default.aspx.cs" Inherits="_Default" %>

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">

<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" >
<head runat="server">
    <title>Untitled Page</title>
</head>
<body>
    <form id="form1" runat="server">
    <div>

    </div>
    </form>
</body>
</html>

I'm not aware of any values changed. I made some websites with notepad++ and IIS then went for Visual Studio for some new websites, but a website wasn't working as it should so I was hoping to try it in IIS.
