JSON Dictionary and GPU calculations for Graphics Card

I am not a C# programmer, what I would like to do is update A top end Dell Server that has been pretty much maxed out by the client. Thinking that they were doing good,
What they did forget was the GPU, for they are using onboard Grraphics for their calculations.

My friend needs serous speed for very large database calculations using JSON.

MY QUESTION is this, What is the best Graphics Card to get that would be optimized for these types of calculations please.

I am not certain why this is in C# - moving to hardware.

What type of database are they using? If it is a custom database, what types of calculations are they needing to do (integer or floating point)?

Also, what is the significance of JSON in this problem... are they storing their data in JSON? Is the database a JSON one? Are they attempting to parse JSON through the graphics card?

I am a Force.com developer, Rails, iOS and not a C# developer.
One of my friends has just spent two years of development and the program was created in C#.
He has serious Speed issues, All I am trying to do is upgrade his Server and and at the same time, I would like to beef up the server so that who ever takes over the program, he will be able to have the hardware to develop on.

I am seeking a C# developer who understands serious database number crunching. I know nothing about C#, it is an excellent language for what it is designed for.
There should be a programmer who understands taking advantage of GPU calculations with a Beef up graphics card. There are different graphic cards and I am seeking someone with that kind of knowledge.

He is using Microsoft SQL.

The good thing that he has done was to keep it very Microsoft Specific ;-)

So a few things I am confused at... 'C# skills' and 'database skills' are not necessarily the same thing, right? A database is a database and C# is a language in the .NET managed environment.

That all being said - the questions on what DB is being used, what's JSON's part in the whole thing, what does "number crunching" mean, etc are still important factors.

Honestly - if it were two years ago I would have advocated something like CUDA.

Sadly, I do not have my hands on the program, he is working on commenting his code. ;-(
Who ever is going to be taking over the program, he will be taking on a mess.

All I can do at this time, is giving him a machine that he will be able to work on. So that he can tackle the bottle neck

This is a good server, but it was not properly built. I will be replacing the drives with high power SSD drives. My goal is to remove all the bottle necks possible.
