I might be a little late to the party, but iirc, saccarides are sugar. There's a difference between monosaccarides and polysaccarides. Monosaccarides are what your body uses for energy and polysaccharides are complex chains of saccarides, and the more complex they are, the slower they break down into monosaccarides for your body to use. That's why you want complex carbs, because it takes longer and more energy to break down, and it's more steady than the instant monosaccaride, which table sugar basically is.
