Notepad++ .Lua editing issues

Posted 04 January 2014 - 01:19 PM

I'm having issues with my notepad++ where it seems as though it does not know how to read the code and it looks like this:

ۊи̟ߣ񙛔Ҧۍs.cيˑ%+ߜ}]
ռIcK˖KP\:ޡR4ńŤXWՕ큈d=Yjԅ7y,ۤȮ˷էׅT̹e}mǤg#㧠؂
:

it also has other symbols that wont show up that are black with rounded sides with 2-3 characters in them

Keep in mind I'm new to coding. If anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not an expert in this area but, is it a simple text file?

What Encoding is selected in this menu? This is also indicated at the bottom-right corner of the application.

I might also copy the file with the extension txt, open it and re-save it with the original extension, although this shouldn't be necessary.

Its using ANSI

I will try doing that now I will get back to you.

[note that it is also saying it is macintosh?]

The saving as a text file and saving back did not work

I tried to upload a screenshot but it didnt work, i will link it to you.

So are you using a Mac?

And is it a simple text-file? What application built it?

I don't know why it would say macintosh, I didn't think Notepad++ was available on a Mac.

I would un-install Notepad++ completely and re-install it.

Have you re-installed Notepad++ and it says Macintosh regardless of which file is open, or just for this file?

Where did the file come from?

You could contact the company behind Automation and request a copy of this file.

We're not helping you mod or cheat in a game. If the game allows for mods, then it has an API of some sorts. Please do not persist in asking for help on this topic here.
