Design to Development

Posted 12 January 2014 - 10:45 PM

Hello,

I'm new to the forum and to web development/designing. I just have a newbie-question about how designs are transformed from static images to dynamic webpages. (And I hope this is the proper forum for such an inquiry).

I have begun learning HTML and CSS, as well as dabbling in some beginner-designing. With respect to designing, I started out by using this GIMP tutorial for creating a webpage:
http://gimp-tutorial...websitetutorial

After I finished the tutorial, there was no mention of how to incorpoate my design with an actual webpage. I assume that I am to place the background image into my CSS code, but where do I go from there? I was left wondering how the tabs, and the catagories in the margin, turn into clickable links.

Which leads me to my question: How do static web designs typically transform into dynamic webpages? Any help is appreciated, thank you.

Is This A Good Question/Topic? 0

Very good tutorials from modi123_1. What I want add is don't rush the whole thing. Be patient to learn HTML5 and CSS and then the whole thing will make a much greater sense.

I appreciate the words of wisdom!

It's hard to resist the impluse to figure everything out at once, haha. The CSS is coming along nicely, and I'm just learning basic HTML 4.01 before HTML5 (I believe I read somewhere that HTML 4.01 is a subset of HTML5).
