Is it possible to cause a deliberate DEP error?

Posted 21 January 2014 - 11:39 AM

To put it simply what I want to do is write a short vb.net program which when run with DEP on will bring up the DEP error, but when run with DEP off will execute code like bring up a message box.

Is this possible? I have no idea how to go about writing instructions to specific memory or telling which memory is non-executable.

Would you elaborate on what you want the application to do with the 'data execution prevention'.

First off i'd like to apologize just noticed i'm in the Java section.

What i'd like is for the program to not be DEP safe on purpose. I'd like it to set off the windows DEP error.
But if I turn DEP off on my machine for it to actually run an instruction or bit of code like a message box.
