The greatest movies... well, I'm stuck with the films that I've watched as a young man, which is fairly recent, none of the classics; I'm basically talking about 2000+, starting with The Matrix.

But I don't know if I could call them classics, but they are definitely my favourite. I lean towards the CGI works of DreamWorks and Pixar, because that's the field I'm in - they tell a great story and have the capacity to create anything!

I love Beetlejuice (still freaks me out to this day).

I'm glad to see I'm not the only person who couldn't sit through Citizen Kane. A lot of people call it the greatest movie every made and I can't figure out why.

Oh, yeah... loves me some Rocky Horror!

Life is Beautiful and The Red Violin were good, too.

Seconded. I just watched Life is Beautiful for the first time a few days ago and it's one of the best movies I've seen.

A few honorable mentions:

Shawshank Redemption
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
12 Angry Men
Bang Bus #7
The Truman Show
American Beauty

Almost missed that one in the middle...

Do I even want to ask why you included that?

Bang Bus 7 was, and is, the true pinnacle of the series. The director's style is top notch, and his sense of humor really shines through. I don't want to spoil anything though, so you'll have to watch for yourself to find out what happened with the cliffhanger at the end of 6.

In no particular order, a few of my favourites:

  • Airplane!
  • Snatch
  • Mickey Blue Eyes
  • Bruce Almighty

I also loved Cloverfield, though I don't know anyone else who agrees with me on that.

omg...

So I used to do tech support for a government agency that is in New York. The night after I watched Cloverfield, I dreamed that I was getting calls. "Our systems are down." and I'm like "yea there's a monster ravaging the city" and they're like "YOU NEED TO MAKE THIS A P1" and I was the only one on the phones -.-

After 9/11 I got at couple of calls a Gateway from people saying they couldn't power on their computers. I asked them what their zip was and found they were like 15 blocks from the disaster.

actually, this agency consists of a lot of police and are responsible for Ground Zero.

I remember one conversation, dude was like "screw your fear of heights"

I'm validating his information, I'm like "you're on the 20th floor?" he goes "ya" I say "man I used to work on the 6th floor and that height freaked me out."

he's like "I was on the 92nd floor of the Tower (forget) when the plane hit."

I'm just like...small talk out the window, what the hell do I say to that

Nothing, you can say nothing to that. The only thing you can do is change the topic.
