Not making this accessible at all to the outside world will go a long way towards making it secure. If you want to build a local management console for your server then that's fine, just understand the implications that anyone with access to it can control your server. If that "anyone" is limited to people in your house then that's fine, that's not a whole lot less secure than someone just standing in your house in front of your server. Wireless network security should be something else to look at to make sure you're covered. You want to use your server to run Steve Gibson's Shields Up tool to check what the outside world can see:
