Posted 18 March 2014 - 09:14 AM

Hello i would like to ask if what you can recommend a laptop. Im choosing between Lenovo S410p i5 GT720m and Dell 14R 5437 i5 GT740m, tho the dell has a good graphics S410p is portable enough. Ill be using it for programming and mid gaming and im not going to play crysis etc.

What price are you finding each at, and what's the rest of the specs?

I would suggest more RAM if either are packing just 4gb, but that's an after purchase upgrade..

If both are rocking the Intel Core i5 4200U don't expect a whole mess of gaming.

But the Dell 14R 5437 do u think its a little big?

At a 14" screen I would think that is a bit small, but that's for me..

Then I think you have your answer.

I recently just picked up the Lenovo G710 with i5, 8gigs of Ram, 17 inch screen for $599 from Lenovo Direct. Swapped out the HDD for a 250G SSD and it boots in under 10 seconds. It is blazing fast. I love it! best laptop I have had in a long time. The only thing that's sucks is I still have to lug my work one around which is a Lenovo t410s.

My vote is for the big L

@sadboys,
rodneyqc has not been on Dream In Code since Aug 24 2014, & this topic was started in March of 2014. I'm sure he's not going to check back for further opinions on Dell or Lenovo. In fact, if he hasn't made his choice by now, he has larger issues than manufacturer preference at this point.

I know this is a dead topic but,

I have a Dell mobile workstation at home and one that the company provided me. I love it, but need to upgrade my personal to a SSD. I thought about the asus gaming laptop before my purchase, being as I look for the same qualities a gamer would.
